The introductory training in Play Therapy is workshop based. It is devoted to the practical aspects and techniques of non-directive work in Play Therapy based on Carl Rogers' humanistic model and the work of Virginia Axline, Violet Oaklander.
Play Therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses play and creative arts as therapeutic tools. For children between the ages of 3 and 12, play and the creative arts are the only effective treatment, as play is a natural means of expression for children. In Play Therapy, in the presence of an appropriately trained adult, the child is helped, experiences relief, and resolves emotional conflicts and behavioural problems in an atmosphere of safety, acceptance and trust. Play Therapy has also been used successfully with adolescents, adults and families.
